Update: Kate and Will gave him a name — George Alexander Louis
The courtship of Prince William and Kate Middleton that lasted a decade ended in a fairytale wedding at Westminster Abbey in London back in 2011. Then, the couple and their 1,900 closest friends and family, celebrated the nuptials along with 72 million viewers worldwide (including yours truly). Traditionally, royal newly weds are expected to begin their family three to six months after they say “I do.” So, when the window of time came and went, everyone – including William’s father, Prince Charles, and grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II – began anticipating the announcement. The one job Kate had to do after the wedding was to have a baby. This would secure the line of succession, bumping Uncle Prince Harry out of the picture if it were a boy. Well, the moment has come and the arrival of a Royal Baby Boy was Monday, July 22. His royal highness, weighed in at over 8 pounds (or about 12 US dollars), and is still waiting on a name.
Below, new mom Kate and her son are pictured exiting the hospital just one day after his birth. I’m sure the amenities of the castle are more comfortable than the hospital wing she was in anyhow. Although HRH is a nameless infant, if you look closely, he already has a subtle version of the royal wave down. Must be in his genes.
