Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers @ Firefly

Tom Petty and the heartbreakers stepped up in a big way on Saturday night, closing the second day of the festival on the main stage. Decades of touring and records have not taken their toll as they submitted a very groovy set. All of the classics with “Running Down a Dream” “Last Dace with Mary Jane” “Free Falling” and “American Girl.” Tom is one cool cat and the way he vibed with the audience was great. It was a much more laid back show compared to the Chili Peppers the night before, but it was much needed for the weary crowd. Even as the band ran through songs I was not familiar with, I enjoyed each of them as they had great sounds and were very listenable. All in all, music lovers should take in a Tom Petty show, to see Tom do his super cool ass thing but to hear a great set and chill out.

They were so cool, I’ve never seen people be so chill while playing music in front of that many people. Just pure class.

I actually just watched the documentary that reflected on the making of “Damn The Torpedoes”, their breakthrough album in the US. Can you believe that “Don’t Do Me Like That” was almost not on the album? Madness!! What a cool group this is and I love them a lot more after the documentary!
